Casale Del Principe - Area and History




Once upon a time there was the Jato Valley, an area generously andowed by nature with wonderful colours to create scenery of unrivalled beauty, and it’s still there, just a few miles from Palermo. Casale del Principe farm is situated in this area, which has a wealth of history and has seen many invaders. Including the pround, enterprising Arabs and the brave, indomitable Norman knights. Located between the Chiusa, Feotto, Dammusi and Signora tiefdoms in the district of the ancient town of laitas, it bears fitness to a Sicily of the past whose unforgettable style and splendour have not been canceller but by present day industriousness and dynamism.

AREA AND HISTORY:
The landscape is typical of 19th-century Sicily, with its background of mountains and battles old and new. This magical spot, immersed in silence and seclusion, i san exellent base for visiting the region and its art treasures or following one of the 21 history, nature and archeological trails in the Jato Valley to discover the long-forgotten memories and best tradizions of this fascinating area.

The original nucleus of the farm was the 16th-century watchtower, witch was converted into a Jesuit monastery in the 18th century, and later into a fortified farmhouse owned by the Princes of Camporeale.
Casale del Principe i san enchanting little world, surrounded by the walls of a 17th-century monastery and situated in one of the most interesting historical and natural areas of the Island. After travelling for 3 kilometres through of popular, eucalyptus and ash trees and flourishing arable fields. Visitors finally come in sight of the imposing walls of the historic residence, which has been turned into a delightful hotel.
